PostgreSQL has recently surpassed MySQL and MariaDB  in popularity and community engagement, in part due to the effective structure and actions of its community. While the communities for MySQL/MariaDB and PostgreSQL are fundamentally different, there are valuable lessons the MySQL/M;ariaDB Community can take from the success of PostgreSQL.
