Sea Lion Champions Awards
The Sea Lion Champions Awards celebrate individuals who have made outstanding contributions—whether technical, organizational, or community-focused—to the MariaDB ecosystem. Through this program, we show our appreciation for dedicated contributors and aim to inspire new members to join and enrich our community.
The award recognizes people who strengthen MariaDB through:
- Technical Excellence
- Community Leadership
- Ecosystem Impact
- Open Source Stewardship
- Adoption & Industry Impact
To ensure we celebrate the most impactful contributors, we’re seeking nominations from the MariaDB community for the five award categories.
All submissions must meet the following criteria:
- Any member of the community is able to submit an entry (self-nomination is allowed).
- Nominees are not allowed to be affiliated with the MariaDB Foundation or MariaDB PLC.
- All submissions should have a way to identify and contact the nominee (name, e-mail address, social profile, etc.).
- A contribution description (link to a project, PRs, blogs, presentations, etc.) and a support statement about said contribution should also be provided in the submission.
Winners will be honored with a Sea Lion Champion cup, a special commemorative T-shirt, and—perhaps most notably—a permanent place in the MariaDB Foundation Hall of Fame. This curated, public record celebrates individuals and organizations whose outstanding contributions have shaped the MariaDB ecosystem for the better.
The winners from each category will be chosen by the following committee:
The submission form will be open until April 25, and the winners will be announced on May 1st.
