Committers and Reviewers

This document describes rules and guidelines for committers and reviewers. The Committer and Reviewer roles are defined in Governance; this text describes how they work.

What commit rights mean

Commit rights mean a technical ability to push to MariaDB repositories. They do not give a permission to bypass a review requirement — a committer has no approval right of their own. A committer is required to keep the Jira tickets for their work up to date.

Becoming a committer or a reviewer

Committer or reviewer status is sponsored by one or more maintainers.

Ceasing to be a committer or a reviewer

A committer ceases to hold commit rights by stepping down, by sustained inactivity, when the sponsorship is revoked, or for cause, on the same basis as maintainers (Ceasing to be a maintainer).
