We wanted to share a quick sneak preview of the results so far. Here’s what’s emerging.
A Mature and Growing Community
The MariaDB community includes both experienced professionals and newer users. 40% of respondents have 26+ years in tech, while the community also welcomes those earlier in their careers. When it comes to MariaDB specifically, 48% have been using it for over 10 years, though users of all experience levels are represented.
Modern Version Adoption
Users are embracing recent releases:
- 39% use MariaDB 11.8 (LTS)
- 34% use MariaDB 11.4 (LTS)
- 36% use MariaDB 10.11 (LTS)
AI & Vector Search Making Waves
24% of respondents have used MariaDB as part of an AI applications, with vector capabilities being a key driver. As one user noted:
A major limitation that’s been overcome is MariaDB’s support for vector embeddings. The fact that it was in testing for so long is now a source of reassurance.
Free text praise and critism
Thank you for taking the time to write free text comments too, with both praise and criticism. Some highlights:
“We tested all flavors: MariaDB, Aurora & MySQL and concluded MariaDB was best for us.”
On migration success:
“We migrated from MySQL 5.7 to MariaDB 10.11.”
