IBM upgrading Gold to Platinum
Good news: IBM is upgrading their Gold sponsorship to Platinum!
Our trinity: Adoption, Openness, Continuity
The three pillars of MariaDB Foundation are Adoption, Openness, and Continuity.
Adoption means that we work towards MariaDB Server to be used everywhere, where you need databases. We think Open Source RDBMSes are the way to go, and we want you to choose MariaDB Server.
Openness means that we work towards making it easy for everyone to contribute towards making MariaDB Server the best Open Source RDBMS. Be it code, documentation, training materials, bug reports, feature requests.
Continuity means that we want MariaDB Foundation to be well equipped to pursue the Adoption and Openness goals for MariaDB Server, short term, medium term, long term.
Sponsorship marks continuity
For the continuity aspect, sponsorships are crucial – and hence it makes me proud and happy to announce that IBM has recognised the value of our work through upgrading their sponsorship from Gold to Platinum already for 2024.
How MariaDB Foundation engages with IBM
We engage with IBM in several ways. We focus on increasing the Adoption on their Power platform as well as in the z Series, testing and building MariaDB Server for those platforms. We work on Openness through helping IBM contribute code and testing by exploring ways to make MariaDB Vector run better on the IBM specific platforms.
And we certainly look forward to joint opportunities with IBM in 2025, in all three areas – Adoption, Openness, and Continuity.
Thank you, IBM!
Thank you, IBM, and thank you especially our Board Member Todd Boyd and all the people with whom you’ve worked to make the Platinum sponsorship possible!
