Preview: Snippets from the TechCrunch article
In the meantime, let me whet your appetite for reading the TechCrunch article and viewing our interview by a couple of quotes from the article:
- The new CEO of MariaDB (Plc) says he wants closer-knit collaboration with the foundation behind the eponymous open source database project.
- MariaDB is already preparing for life as a private company once more — and this will involve getting cozier with the foundation that bears the same name.
- On the Foundation side, Arnö says that there are now “shared strategy sessions” taking place to find ways they can support each other’s efforts. He also echoed De Souza’s sentiments, adding that he doesn’t want to dwell too much on historical tensions.
- “The past is behind us — I want to focus on the future, and how we can all work together on a shared goal, and not elaborate on the past,” Arnö told TechCrunch. “I am now more optimistic about the relationship between the Foundation and MariaDB the Company than I have ever been since taking the CEO position in 2019.”
- “There’s like a billion downloads [MariaDB database] and a big, vibrant community. Our intent is to grow that community, and have the Foundation be the engine that helps that community grow,” De Souza said.
Wow! It sounds like Intel Vision in London was an amazing event, especially with all the focus on AI. The way AI was showcased in almost every keynote and presentation is really impressive. It’s great to hear about how MariaDB is integrating AI vectors into a general-purpose RDBMS. Tools like Gen AI and RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) show how AI can work with conventional data, making everything more efficient.
I also love how Intel supports open source and tests new MariaDB releases on their latest hardware. The AI-generated pictures using Stable Diffusion and LAION-2B sound super cool too! AI is indeed the future, and it’s exciting to see how it will transform our world. Thanks for sharing this experience!
wow MariaDB’s future involves closer collaboration between the company and the foundation.
