Abstract

XA transaction replication and it performance improvement on the parallel slave
by Andrei Elkin, MariaDB server replication team

Since introduction to MariaDB server two-phase replicated XA
transactions it’s fair to say we have further penetrated into the
fields of distributed database and synchronous replication.

This talks present some little dive into internals of XA replication
implementation, its benchmarking and how gained
results helped to improve performance.

Andrei Elkin is a Lead software developer in Mariadb Corp.

He has a PhD in physics and mathematics from St.Petersburg state
univ. Before joining Mariadb in 2017 he worked in Oracle, Sun
and MySQL to design, implement, maintain wide range of replication
features, including row-based replication, heartbeat, checksum,
parallel replication, semi-sync, synchronous replication, atomic DDL,
two phase replication for XA.

In Mariadb he continues to engage his knowledge to
further Mariadb replication.
