today, I did with upgrade to MariaDB 10.2.2 from the stable release 10.1.18 which is being used by professional courier tracking system. Over the next few days, i will be working with the dev/testing team to get things in to deeper analysis.

There's innodb_large_prefix as a possible workaround, which is default in 10.2 https://t.co/URwAEaZcN7
The reason is because MariaDB imposes a maximum of 767 bytes for indexes, and 767 / 4 = 191 (rounded down).
