MariaDB Foundation welcomes Frappe as a Silver Sponsor.
Frappe builds open-source software for running organisations, including ERPNext, Frappe HR and Frappe CRM. Its applications are built on Frappe Framework, where MariaDB is the default database. That makes MariaDB part of the infrastructure behind the work Frappe users do every day, from managing finances and inventory to serving customers.
“Frappe shows what open-source software can deliver when the entire stack is available for people to use, adapt and improve,” said Anna Widenius, CEO of MariaDB Foundation. “We are delighted that a company building so much on MariaDB has chosen to support the independent foundation behind it.

A Magento report ran 63 times faster once its tables moved to the DuckDB storage engine, which now ships with MariaDB 13.0, Stable since 17 September. TideSQL became far easier to install, the community voted on writing plugins beyond C++, and the Adoption Index is up 126% in a year. MariaDB Foundation welcomes Elestio as a Silver Sponsor, supporting the open-source project behind its managed MariaDB offering.
Elestio provides managed MariaDB with automated backups, monitoring and updates, allowing users to choose their cloud provider, region and resources. Its support for the Foundation helps sustain MariaDB’s development and grow the ecosystem around it.

MariaDB Foundation welcomes Kamatera, a global cloud infrastructure provider, as its newest Silver Sponsor.
Kamatera provides scalable cloud servers and infrastructure across a worldwide network of data centres, giving developers and organisations control over where and how they run their applications. That flexibility makes it a natural environment for open-source technologies such as MariaDB, which users can deploy, configure and scale according to their own technical and geographic requirements.
“MariaDB belongs wherever developers choose to build and run their applications,” said Anna Widenius, CEO of MariaDB Foundation. “That requires strong open-source technology and accessible infrastructure around the world.

The 13.0 series started its journey in March 2026 with the Preview. It then progressed through the Release Candidate phase and is now ready for general use as MariaDB’s latest Stable rolling release.
This is not a long-term support release, which means that an upgrade is relevant for you in the specific scenario that you want to try one of the new features described below. In a test or production environment. But this is not an LTS.
13.0.2, Stable, is an important milestone.

MariaDB Foundation is pleased to announce that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has renewed its Diamond sponsorship for a fourth consecutive year.

AWS engineers contribute code and technical expertise to MariaDB Server, and ongoing dialogue between AWS and the Foundation has strengthened communication around development priorities, upcoming releases, and the needs of organizations running MariaDB at scale.

Meanwhile the Q3 maintenance releases arrived for all four supported LTS series, the first round without 10.6, and two new sponsors joined along the way. Here’s what happened.

MariaDB Server publishes its governance framework
Open source begins with access to the code, but infrastructure that is expected to last for decades needs more: clarity on how responsibility is assigned, how decisions are made, and what happens when people disagree or move on.
