Percona Live returns to Europe on September 9–11, 2026, and MariaDB will be there!
The open source database community will gather at the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre for three days of technical sessions, discussions and, probably just as importantly, conversations between the people building and running open source databases every day.
MariaDB will have a strong presence this year, with sessions from MariaDB Foundation and MariaDB engineers covering server extensibility, protocol security and the ecosystem surrounding MariaDB Server.
The MariaDB story at Percona Live goes beyond our own sessions: other members of the database community will share their experiences running MariaDB.

Last week, Oracle invited MariaDB Foundation to give a presentation at Oracle’s MySQL Contributor Summit 2026. I had the opportunity to participate remotely and speak about MariaDB’s role within the broader MySQL ecosystem.
First of all, I would like to thank Heather VanCura, VP Community Engagement at Oracle, and Jason Wilcox, SVP Data Services at Oracle, for the invitation and for creating a space where these discussions could happen openly and constructively.

Sunny Kumar, Abhijeet Dhanotiya, Anuj Gupta, Tushan Kumar Sinha, and Anand Vyas developed Metadata-Hub, a multimodal semantic search application using MariaDB Vector and OpenAI’s CLIP model. As we blogged last week, the ideation phase of the MariaDB-Python hackathon ended with a heap of ideas. Due to the sheer mass, we had a tough time evaluating suitable ideas and teams for the development phase.
Now that we have proceeded to the development phase, we are really looking forward to seeing all short-listed ideas materialize to code! Let’s take a look at a few ideas from each track that stood out of the crowd.
