Shanghai MariaDB Unconference Nov 2019

In our quest to promote development of MariaDB Server, what we have come to call Unconferences form a key part. These developer meetings have traditionally been organised twice a year, and 2019 is no exception. After the North American Unconference in New York in February, Asia Pacific was in turn with Shanghai in November. And, no, we have not forgotten Europe; expect an EMEA Unconference next year.

Hosts and environment

Microsoft were our hosts, at their fabulous campus in the peaceful outskirts of Shanghai. “Where are all the Chinese?” was a common foreigner reaction;

MariaDB基金会很高兴地宣布,2019 年度MariaDB开发者会议将于上海举行。继第一届2017年深圳开发者会议之后,这是该会议在中国的第二次举办。此次会议将于2019年11月19日周二开始,2019年11月21日周四结束。

2019 Developers Unconference, Shanghai, Nov 2019

The MariaDB Foundation is pleased to announce the 2019 MariaDB Developers Unconference in Shanghai. This will be our second Unconference in China, after the 2017 Developers Unconference in Shenzhen, and will take place from Tuesday 19 November to Thursday 21 November 2019.

Microsoft Shanghai are kindly hosting the event. If you want to attend, please sign up on the event page at Meetup.com. We recommend you stay in a hotel near the venue.

All events are free of charge to attend.

“How to write your first patch ? ” – MariaDB Unconference Presentations

 Have you ever wondered how to get started with contributions to the world’s most popular open source database? Did you have a problems with building and configuring from source code, writing the contribution patch and testing the server with  use of mysql-test-run (mtr) framework  afterwards?
How to make your patch visible to other developers?
In this section we will go through each step in this process from getting the latest source code, testing the server and writing your first contribution with the live demo!

FOSDEM Reflections / MySQL – MariaDB DevRoom

What a great place for informal interactions, strengthening the network, and hearing the latest news from the grapevine! Last weekend 1.-3. Feb 2019, over 8000 developers met in Brussels for FOSDEM 2019.
